Fresh off her recent signing, former WWE star Zelina Vega, now known as Xelina, is officially set for her upcoming in-ring return.

Following her WWE departure, Xelina made an appearance at WrestleCon, reconnecting with fans as she prepared for the next chapter of her career. During an interview with Denise Salcedo of Instinct Culture, Xelina opened up about her departure from WWE and maintaining a positive outlook despite the challenges that came with her release.

According to a transcription published by Fightful, Xelina reflected on nearly a decade with WWE and the opportunities, relationships and fanbase she gained throughout her career.

“I really try to spin things into a positive, regardless,” Xelina said.

She also acknowledged that moving forward hasn’t been without its difficult moments, explaining that she tends to approach challenging situations with a “survival mode mentality.”

Now, Xelina is preparing to turn the page inside the ring.

On Friday, September 4, Xelina will return to competition following the expiration of her 90-day post-WWE clause. She is set to face fellow former WWE star Shayna Baszler at House of Glory, marking the beginning of a new chapter in her wrestling career.

Xelina has not competed since April, when she faced Jordynne Grace on WWE Main Event. Grace picked up the victory in what would become Xelina’s final match before her WWE departure.

Nearly five months later, Xelina returns to competition against a familiar and dangerous opponent in Baszler. With both women entering new chapters outside of WWE, their House of Glory showdown gives Xelina an opportunity to make an immediate statement on the independent wrestling scene.

For Xelina, September 4 represents more than an in-ring return. After navigating the uncertainty surrounding her WWE departure, she now has an opportunity to establish what the next chapter of her career could look like.
